Present Continuous
Tense: Affirmative Sentences
ਜਦੋਂ ਕੋਈ
ਕੰਮ ਜਾਂ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਦੋਂ "Present Continuous Tense" ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ
ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
For Example:
ਮੈਂ ਚਿੱਠੀ
ਲਿਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।
I am writing a letter.
ਉੱਪਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ
Sentence ਵਿੱਚ "ਲਿਖਣਾ" or "writing" ਕਿਰਿਆ ਜਾਂ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ
ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ "Present Continuous Tense" ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ
ਗਈ ਹੈ।

ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਚਾਣ - ਇਸ Tense ਦੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਚਾਣ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ Sentence ਦੇ ਅਖੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ "ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ" ਲੱਗਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Structure - Subject
+ is/am/are + v1 + ing + Object.
"is"
ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ Singular Pronouns ਭਾਵ He, She, It ਨਾਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
"am"
ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਸਿਰਫ "I" ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
"are"
ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ Plural Pronouns ਭਾਵ We, You, They ਨਾਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
"Verb"
ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ form ਦੇ ਨਾਲ "ing" ਲੱਗਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Examples
1.
ਅਸੀਂ
ਪਰੀਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ।
We are taking the examination.
2.
ਉਹ
ਇਹਨੀਂ ਦਿਨੀਂ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
He is working hard these days.
3.
ਲੜਕੇ
ਨਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
The boys are taking bath in the river.
4.
ਸੂਰਜ
ਅਸਤ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
The sun is setting.
5.
ਭਿਖਾਰੀ
ਸਰਦੀ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਬ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
The beggar is shivering with cold.
Negative Sentences
Structure - Subject
+ is/am/are + not + v1 + ing + Object.
"Negative Sentences" ਵਿੱਚ "is/am/are" ਦੇ ਨਾਲ "not" ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Examples:
1.
ਬੱਚੇ
ਰੌਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
The children are not making a noise.
2.
ਮੈਂ
ਫੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੋੜ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।
I am not plucking flowers.
3.
ਤੁਸੀਂ
ਆਪਣਾ ਪਾਠ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੁਹਰਾ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ।
You are not revising your lesson.
4.
ਚਪੜਾਸੀ
ਘੰਟੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
The peon is not ringing the bell.
5.
ਅਸੀਂ
ਸੁਆਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੱਲ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ।
We are not solving the sum.
Interrogative Sentences
Structure -
Is/Am/Are + Subject + v1 + ing + Object?
"Interrogative
Sentences" ਵਿੱਚ "is/am/are" ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ "Subject" ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ
ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Examples:

ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸਦਾ ਮਜ਼ਾਕ ਕਿਉਂ ਉਡਾ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ?
Why are you making a fun of him?
2.
ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਧੋਖਾ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ?
Are you deceiving him?
3.
ਕੀ ਡਾਕਟਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਨਬਜ਼ ਦੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ?
Is the doctor feeling your pulse?
4.
ਕੀ ਲੜਕੇ ਜੂਆ ਖੇਡ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ?
Are the boys gambling?
5.
ਕੀ ਕੁੱਤਾ ਚੋਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੌਂਕ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ?
