Indefinite Tense: Affirmative Sentences
"Past
Indefinite Tense" का उपयोग तब किया जाता है जब कोई क्रिया Past में शुरू होती है और (Past) अतीत में ही समाप्त होती है।
For examples:

They decided to go out for a walk.
2.
He went to Shimla yesterday.
3.
He left school last year.
4.
I learnt English in Calcutta.
5.
He didn't sleep well last night.

हिन्दी में पहचान - हिन्दी में "Past Indefinite Tense" की पहचान यह है कि हर वाक्य के अंत में "या, ई, ए, ता था, ती थी, ते थे" लगा होता है।
Structure : Subject + v2 + Object.
"Past
Indefinite Tense" में Subject के साथ Verb की दूसरी form का प्रयोग किया जाता है।
Examples:
1. मैंने सभी प्रशन हल कर लिए।
I solved all the
questions.
2. हमने डॉक्टर को बुलाया।
We sent for the doctor.
3. कल मोहलेधार बारिश हुई।
It rained heavily
yesterday.
4. बैठक चार घंटे तक चली।
The meeting lasted for
four hours.
5. हमने कई नई किताबें खरीदीं।
We bought some new
books.
6. वह पाठ याद करता था।
He learnt the lesson.
7. बिल्ली ने चूहे को मार डाला।
The cat killed the
mouse.
8. लड़के ने पतंग बनाई।
The boy made a kite.
9. शिक्षक ने उसकी प्रशंसा की।
The teacher praised
him/her.
10. पुलिस ने उसे गिरफ्तार कर लिया।
The Police arrested him.
Negative
Sentences
Structure : Subject + did + not + v1 + Object.
"Past
Indefinite Tense" में "Affirmative Sentences" की तरह "Negative और Interrogative Sentences" में Verb की दूसरी form का उपयोग नहीं होता बल्कि Helping Verb "did" लगा कर उसके साथ Verb की पहली form का उपयोग किया जाता है। Negative Sentences में Helping Verb "did" के बाद "not" का प्रयोग होता है।
Examples:
1. उन्होंने अपना घर नहीं बेचा।
They didn't sell their
house.
2. मुझे उसका व्यवहार पसंद नहीं आया।
I didn't like his
behaviour.
3. उसने कल दवा नहीं ली।
He didn't take medicine
yesterday.
4. छात्रों ने ताली नहीं बजाई।
The students didn't
clap.
5. हमने कुत्ते को पत्थर नहीं मारे।
We didn't throw stones
at the dog.
6. शिक्षक ने पाठ नहीं पढ़ाया।
The teacher didn't teach
the lesson.
7. उसने नई कार नहीं खरीदी।
He didn't buy a new car.
8. मैंने उसकी स्लेट नहीं तोड़ी।
I didn't break his/her
slate.
9. बच्चों ने फूल नहीं तोड़े।
The children didn't
pluck the flowers.
10. हमने आज फुटबॉल नहीं खेला।
We didn't play football.
Interrogative
Sentences
Structure: Did + Subject + v1+ Object?
"Interrogative
Sentences" में "Did" का उपयोग "Subject" से पहले किया जाता है। Sentence के अंत में Question Mark (प्रश्नवाचक चिन्ह) लगाया जाता है।
Examples:
1. क्या उसने आपको पैसे उधार दिए?
Did he lend you money?
2. क्या तुमने मेरा पैन चुरा लिया?
Did you steal my pen?
3. क्या उन्होंने डाक में पत्र नहीं डाला?
Did he not post the
letter?
4. क्या आपके पिता मुंबई से लौट आए?
Did your father return
from Bombay?
5. क्या डॉक्टर ने मरीज की नब्ज देखी?
Did the doctor feel the
pulse of the patient?
6. क्या उसने पत्र लिखा?
Did he write a letter?
7.
क्या उसने आपकी मदद की?
Did he help you?
8. क्या हम मैच हार गए?
Did we lose the match?
9. क्या आपने परीक्षा पास कर ली?
Did you pass the
examination?
