Continuous Tense: Affirmative Sentences
"Past Continuous Tense" का उपयोग Past Time (भूत काल) में किसी समय पर होने वाली क्रिया या कार्य के लिए किया जाता है।

हिंदी में पहचान - इस Tense की हिंदी में पहचान यह है कि Sentence के अंत में "रहा था, रही थी, रहे थे, रहीं थी" आदि लगा होता है।
Structure - Subject + was/were + v1 + ing + Object.
"was" का प्रयोग Pronouns like I, He, She, It के साथ होता है।
"were" का प्रयोग Plural Pronouns like We, You, They के साथ होता है।
Helping
Verbs "was/were" लगाने के बाद Verb की पहली form के साथ "ing" लगाया जाता है।
Examples:
1. लोग अपने घरों को सजा रहे थे।
The people were
decorating their houses.
2. कल मोहलेधार बारिश हो रही थी।
It was raining cats and
dogs yesterday.
3. वह तेज दौड़ रहा था।
He was running fast.
4. पुलिस चोर का पीछा कर रही थी।
The police were chasing
the thief.
5. आप अंग्रेजी सीख रहे थे।
You were learning
English.
6. लड़के नदी में तैर रहे थे।
The boys were swimming
in the river.
7. डाकिया डाक बांट रहा था।
The postman was
delivering the dak.
8. वह पैदल ऑफिस जा रहे थे।
They were going to the
office on foot.
9. वह फूल तोड़/चुन रहा था।
He was plucking the
flowers.
10. बच्चा फूट-फूट कर रो रहा था।
The child was weeping
bitterly.
Negative
Sentences
Structure - Subject + was/were + not + v1 + ing + Object.
"Negative Sentences" में "was/were" के साथ "not" का उपयोग होता है।
Examples:
1. माली पेड़ नहीं लगा रहा था।
The gardener was not
planting trees.
2. बच्चों का खेलों में मन नहीं लग रहा था।
The children were taking
no interest in games.
3. हम मकान खाली नहीं कर रहे थे।
We were not vacating the
house.
4. मरीज दर्द से चीख नहीं रहा था।
The patient was not
crying with pain.
5. हम बिना टिकट यात्रा नहीं कर रहे थे।
We were not travelling
without ticket.
6. वह मुझे धोखा नहीं दे रहा था।
He was not deceiving me.
7. हम प्रार्थना नहीं कर रहे थे।
We were not saying
prayers.
8. हवा तेज नहीं चल रही थी।
It was not blowing hard.
9. हम पतंग नहीं उड़ा रहे थे।
We were not flying
kites.
10. वह मेरी मदद नहीं कर रहा था।
He was not helping me.
Interrogative
Sentences
Structure - Was/Were + Subject + v1 + ing + Object?
"Interrogative
Sentences" में "was/were" का उपयोग "Subject" से पहले होता है।
Examples:
1. क्या वह सारंगी बजा रहा था?

2. क्या आप उस समय भोजन खा रहे थे?

3. क्या सर्कस में शेर दहाड़ रहे थे?
